Some things go out of fashion but I don’t think that the red lipstick will follow this fate. Lips are the most sensual part of the female body and this type of lipstic makes them look stunning. It attracts the eyes of men and some say that it is indispensable for every lady, just like the small black dress. There are hundreds of shades of red and each one would fit each person in a different way because each woman is unique. The most suitable version depends on the form of the lips, the skin complexion, the hair colour and the occasion. Here are some basic rules which will ensure that you always look stunning while wearing red lipstick.

1/The red lipstick is not for all kinds of lips because it can produce the reverse effect. Dark red doesn’t suit tiny lips because it makes them look tinier. It is recommendable that you make them more voluminous before that.

2/ One of the most common mistakes is to emphasize both the eyes and the lips at the same time. The red lipstick doesn’t look well with strong eye make-up. If you choose to highlight your lips, put only a light eyeliner and mascara in the eye area. This will make your style more retro-like.

3/ Everyone has seen how red lipstick sometimes leaves stains on the teeth or around the lip itself. Leave several minutes to try this trick: purse your lips as if you are saying “O” and put your index finger between them. Then slowly withdraw the finger. The lipstick on the inner side of your lips will be left on your finger and it won’t stick on your teeth. Furthermore, it looks ugly when applied to chapped lips. Before you use it, put on some lip balm and stay like this for at least half an hour. After this, put on the red colour.

4/ Although the red lipstick is sexy, it is not recommendable to use shades which are too striking during the day. For a casual make-up choose raspberry or cherry colours because they are softer. For an evening occasion you can experiment more and choose a stronger make-up. Saturated red is suitable for ladies with light complexion such as me but I like the vine shades of red as well. The darker Mahogany shades are suitable for women with bronze complexion. With darker skin colours, also suitable are blueberry, raspberry and Bordeaux colours.
The red lipstick looks sexy and provocative. When you wear it, everyone will be following closely what you are saying because they wouldn’t be able to take their eyes off your lips. Don’t be afraid to experiment and to be stunning every day.
